Development XV 27 - 15 Gorseinon Development

In a fixture that always provides a tight scoring game the Development XV came out on top in a great win. Playing the first half with the wind at their backs and the howitzer like boot of Stephen O'Connor, Bonymaen were regular visitors into the Gorseinon 22m and made it count with a few penalties and three tries from Stephen O'Connor, Jamie Davies & Richie Morris the latter of which playing in an improvised Number 8 position. The Bonymaen defence held strong for the few occasions Gorseinon paid a visit to the 22, a strong performance from the pack gave the opposition all sorts of trouble.

The second half brought a change of fortune & lineup to the game with Bony now playing into the wind and Gorseinon taking full advantage with a variety of kicks being made. Thomas 'Dumbo' Williams entered the fray and decided the Gorseinon replacement flanker was no longer allowed to play rough after a scuffle and a cut eye for the opposing flanker. The boys really struggled to get a foothold in the second half and put some phases together but held firm in defence. Then came the subsititution the capacity crowd had been waiting for, Benjamin Clive Davies came on to the wing and started with what can only be called a once in a lifetime offload. Unfortunately the Gorseinon winger also found his way past the replacement to get in at the corner. All in all it was a great win for the Development and even better to see players turning up from work at all times itching to get a jersey on and play. Long may it continue.

Next week sees the Development visit old rivals Dunvant at Broadacre in what will be an entertaining Fixture!
